So Geist 2 stays on my computer even though it has more phantom goings on than Luigi's Mansion! I'm perhaps exaggerating a bit with the latest releases but there's still some weirdness (read: bugs) going on from time to time.Ī proprietary Akai Fire style step input controller with Geist would be heaven! I didn't find anything apart from Fruity Loops which is a whole different kettle of fish and in fact the shift only pushes triggers later in time without the useful ability to do earlier ones. I think part of it is the ability to either edit graphs below their respective track or just have one open at the bottom like most sequencers.Īfter having (many) issues with stability I looked into other drum sequencers that have a similar system like the graphs with shift being vital. Geist feels less unwieldy than almost all other step sequencers I've used since Making Waves but remains deeper than most. One thing I've never used is the scenes and although I very briefly tried I've never made use of the song section. Like for instance I wondered if it really needed all the separate layer controls but on occasion I will pan/level/do different sends/fx on different layers. It is pretty good though.I felt the same but came to suppose that in many areas its complexity is warranted. I always felt they both had too many layers, I just don't think that level of complexity is needed. At first I thought it was going to be quick and easy to get the pattern midi into Ableton like Stylus RMX does.

On page 28 of the manual it says "Patterns are exported by dragging pattern memory keys to suitable MIDI tracks in the host." I tried this but nothing came across. I couldn't see how to drag the patterns into a midi track in Ableton. nothing about it feels enjoyable or intuitive but i do think I would like to invest more time into it.Īfter all I paid for the ****ing thing and it's literally just sitting there waiting to be loved.I'm trying the demo and not finding it very intuitive at all but I can see it is very powerful. It's like a megasampler drum synth with 999999 possibilities that is just a ****ing pain in the ass to learn and use to be honest, at least for me. very, very, very, very, very, very well off.

the complexity is very high and I can imagine if you learned it you'd be well off on sequencing and sampling potential. let's be honest, it's not 10/10 design.īut it's also definitely more packed with possibilities than most other stuff.
